No, Hanabi, I have not yet decided how long you will be grounded. It may well last until I believe you understand the repercussions of playing with explosives and trying to take on beasts eight times your weight.


Edit: Especially when you were not in your room when I came to talk to you about the sentencing.

I am still trying to decide if mild chaos is better than peace. At least with mild chaos, one never has to wonder when the calm will end and anticipate the next disaster.

The traitor escaped, but I don't know where my son is. I am forced to assume that if he had been taken, I would have been notified. His sensei, I have been informed, is in the hospital, and has told Hinaji to report to Tsurude-sama.


But I still don't know where he is.


Hinaji, you are to come back to the compound.

While my son has mentioned it earlier, I thought it would be best to confirm the announcement.

Hyuuga Hinaji has been removed as my heir, due to his inadequacy. He has been given many opportunities to prove himself, and he has been found lacking by the Elders and myself.

As such, my second son, Hyuuga Hanabi, will be known as my heir from this point on until I die or give my title to him.

Whatever happened in the last several days, it is finally over. It appears to have ended as abruptly as it came, which begs the question if these . . . changes . . . were something intended or some sort of side-effect of something else. In any case, the why remains a mystery.

The Elders have finally quieted down. Miracles can happen on occassion They are, however, pestering me about other things.

If Mitarashi Aki even looks at me again, I will castrate him.

It seems that this . . . gender switch is not limited to the clan. All of Konohagakure has been affected, and I surmise that this occurence is not restricted to this village.

The Elders is there a female equivalent for this title? Sisters, perhaps? were far from pleased at being female and started hounding me about "fixing" the situation.

It was quite satisfactory, being able to use my new voice to send them on their ways. I doubt they will find anything of use in the clan scrolls, but it will keep their incessant complaining away from me.

Despite the obvious differences manifested by acquiring male anatomy, I find the changes far from detrimental.

. . . with one exception: Hinaji is now even weaker than he normally is. His brother has taken the change in stride, but it is obvious Hinaji was close to panic when he discovered the change.

It shouldn't surprise me how ingenious that girl was. It was my pride that allowed me to believe she had given up, and allowed her to slip away.

I will not have the Elders alter the law that let her get out of the marriage. To do that would be to acknowledge her actions as a threat.

Let her believe instead, that the Elders and myself have lost too much face to attempt another engagement soon.

Next time, she will have a willing fiance. And she will be drugged. I may have allowed her the selfishness of chosing her own spouse, had she been part of the Main House. But she is not, and she will never be.
